This trip is a favorite for many of our customers.  71 miles, with 46 miles on the Yampa and the remaining 25 on the Green, taking about five days to complete. The season begins during mid-April and continues into late June, depending on runoff. The Yampa River is controlled by runoff, so keep in mind, the season is fairly short.

The put-in is at Deer Lodge Park, Colorado (5,595')  and take-out at the Split Mountain Boat Ramp (4,780') at Dinosaur National Monument, seven miles north of Jensen, Utah.

During midsummer the weather is usually hot; don't forget the sunscreen. Hikes include Mantle Cave and other interesting side trails. Keep a good lookout for wildlife along the way, including  deer, beaver, Bighorn sheep and various raptors including the endangered Peregrine Falcon.
