Green River At Brown's Park, the Green flows for more than 30 miles with mild, flat waters. Waterfowl, deer and moose are common sights. Occasional ranches and unpaved roads intrude only slightly on the solitude. This open section is broken only by a two mile passage between the red rock walls of Swallow Canyon. Two miles down stream, the river crosses into Colorado, immediately followed by the Swinging Bridge campground. Another access is Refuge or Crook Campground. All of these access points are on the left bank.

In the late nineteenth century, cattle rustlers and criminals such as Butch Cassidy and the Wild Bunch often "holed up" here. They frequented the Browns Park area and often jumped from Utah to Colorado and Wyoming to escape the law.
